District Conference 2019

Continuing to shape the future of Scouting in the District

Following on from last year’s Our Plan event, the District Conference is open to all Scout member volunteers and guests who have an interest in continuing to build a better future for Scouting in Richmond upon Thames District : ADCs, GSLs, Section Leaders and all Assistant Leaders, Young Leaders, Executive Members, Explorer Scouts and other volunteer members, friends and well-wishers.

Hosted by the District Commissioner, Phil Hunt, and inspired by the national strategy for #SkillsForLife, the event will explore how we are progressing against Our Plan for 2024 and what we need to do next to prepare even more young people with skills for life.

We need your views, ideas and enthusiasm to achieve our ambitions so we’re looking forward to a fun interactive session. It’s your chance to voice your thoughts, air your grumbles and ask those awkward questions … (!). And Be Prepared for one or two surprises!

The Conference, which starts promptly at 3pm includes a brief Annual General Meeting of the District Scout Council followed by a free barbecue and free bar* from about 4.45pm.

We will cover:

• What next?
• Growth and Development plans
• District Scout Council AGM
• Adult Awards
• Ask the DC anything

Full dress uniform (with medals) is appropriate for the AGM. Facilities are available for those who prefer to change into casual Scout attire for the barbecue.

Families are welcome, but note: this is an adult environment and are NO supervised activities for Young People.

*Alcoholic drinks will not be available until after the Conference ends. The bar is in a separate building to the Conference. ‘Green Card’ alcohol policy will apply.
